The Silverdale Recycling and Garbage Facility on Dickey Road is scheduled to close September 21, 2026, through April 1, 2027. Kitsap County’s September 10 notice says construction on the facility improvement project requires a full closure.

For people who haul their own garbage or recycling, the next trip will mean choosing a different destination. The county identifies three alternatives.

Check the operating days before loading up

These are regular hours; weather and holidays can affect operations. Check the facility’s accepted materials, fees and payment options before leaving. Hansville and Olalla require hand unloading and may refer large loads or bulky items to Olympic View.

Curbside collection and future updates

The county’s facility information page links to WM for curbside garbage, recycling and food-and-yard-waste service. Confirm availability, price and a start date for your address with the provider.

The September 10 notice also says periodic off-site recycling collections in Central Kitsap are being planned. It does not yet give dates, locations or final material lists. Follow county updates before planning a trip to one of those events.
