Kitsap Transit changes arrive September 13: what riders should check

The fall update brings a new South Kitsap ferry connection and changes for college-bound riders. Start with the schedule for your specific route.

Kitsap Transit’s fall service update takes effect September 13, bringing changes that could affect a familiar commute or a connection to the Port Orchard ferry. The agency’s September 3 announcement covers route timing, stops and service patterns across the county.

Two changes to watch

Route 215–McWilliams adds service to Olympic College’s Bremerton campus. In South Kitsap, a new SK Ride Express pilot links timed stops in the McCormick Woods and McCormick Village areas with the Port Orchard Ferry Dock.

The express route operates separately from SK Ride On-Demand. Express trips cannot be booked through the Ride Pingo app, and the on-demand service does not itself take passengers directly to the ferry dock. Check which service fits your trip before requesting a ride.

Bainbridge’s Saturday loop continues

The Route 385–Bainbridge Island Downtown Loop page lists Saturday service and says the free pilot continues through March 2027. Riders should use that route’s operating-day information when planning a downtown visit.

Check the whole trip

September 13 is the effective date of the service change; it does not mean every affected route operates on Sunday. Before leaving, check your route’s current timetable, the date printed on any downloaded schedule and the return trip as well as the outbound ride.

If your journey includes a ferry, compare the connection with the ferry timetable instead of assuming an old transfer still works. The agency’s route-by-route update and rider alerts are the starting points for the latest information.
